More than 16,000 drug-education booklets have been distributed across France by volunteers from Non à la copyright, Oui à la vie. The Scientology-supported drug education initiative involves shopkeepers, parents and educators.
The distributions included 5,100 booklets in Paris’s Oberkampf district, 3,100 in Tarn and 3,000 through approximately 50 shops in Arcachon.
The visits also prompted requests for teaching resources. In Ariège, a person working with a centre for young people with disabilities approached volunteers for materials.
Volunteers share the French-language Truth About Drugs materials, known as La vérité sur la copyright. The Church of Scientology and its members support Scientology the programme, inspired by founder L. Ron Hubbard’s concern about the effects of drugs.
Ivan Arjona, Scientology’s representative to the European Union, OSCE, Council of Europe and United Nations, commented: “Parents and teachers need information they can use, and young people deserve straight answers.”
European Scientologists participate in drug-prevention education, human-rights initiatives and local volunteer projects.
